Terms of Service — The Function

Last updated: 27 July 2026

By using The Function you agree to these terms. If you don't, don't use it.

We are The Function, contactable at james@getthefunction.com.

Who can use it

You must be at least 16. Some events are restricted to 18+ or 21+, and you can only see and attend those if the birthday on your account qualifies.

You give us one account, with real information. Don't impersonate anyone.

What you post

You keep ownership of everything you post — your photos, clips, event listings, messages. You give us permission to display and distribute it inside the app so the app can work.

Don't post: anything illegal; anything sexual involving minors; threats, harassment or hate; someone else's private information; content promoting drugs to minors; spam; or anyone else's copyrighted work.

Don't post an event that isn't real. Fake events are the single most harmful thing on a platform like this — people travel to them, and pay for them.

We screen uploads automatically and act on reports. We can remove content and suspend accounts, and we will do so without much ceremony for anything on that list.

Reporting and blocking

Every event and every user can be reported from inside the app, and you can block any user. We review reports and act on them within 24 hours. Reports are anonymous to the person reported.

If you host events

You are responsible for your event: that it happens, that the address is right, that it is safe and legal, and that you have permission to use the venue.

If your event is age-restricted, check ID at the door. Our age check is a self-reported birthday. It stops casual access; it doesn't stop someone lying.

If you charge for tickets, you're also responsible for honouring them, for your own tax obligations, and for the refund policy you chose when you created the event.

We are not a party to your event. We provide the listing and the ticketing.

Tickets and money

Payments are handled by Stripe. By buying or selling you also agree to Stripe's terms.

Buying: the refund policy is set by the host and shown before you pay. Some events are non-refundable — you'll see that before you commit. If an event is cancelled by the host, paid tickets are refunded.

Selling: we take a platform fee, shown to you before you publish. Payouts go through your connected Stripe account, on Stripe's schedule.

Chargebacks and fraud are between you, your card issuer and Stripe. We'll help where we can.

Things we don't promise

The Function is provided as it is. We don't guarantee it will always be available, that events listed are real or safe, or that anyone else on it is who they say they are.

We are not responsible for what happens at an event. We list them; we don't run them. Use the same judgement you'd use about any party you heard about from a friend.

To the maximum extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
